Born in London, UK and growing up partly in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore & Australia,
Andrews has been involved in the independent music scene for almost two decades.
Cutting his teeth in Melbourne’s thriving live music scene in the late 1990’s, Andrews took no time in
securing a position on the International touring circuit. After completing a Bachelor of Professional Writing
at Deakin University, (high honours) he decided to change direction and work within the music industry full time.
Having worked for some of the best Australian touring agencies as a Tour Manager, booking agent, driver, backline specialist, sound engineer and stage technician, music has been a staple in his life since his early teens.
Amongst his extensive work resume, Andrews has worked for and with the following notable artists and agents both in Australia and abroad:
Handsome Tours, Penny Drop Entertainment, Love Police tours, Soundwave Entertainment,
Billions Australia, Pop Frenzy, Shellac, Ty Segall, Jason Isobel, Neon Indian, Bon Iver, and
Lustmord.
After relocating to Europe with the band Clann Zu in 2002, Andrews decided to move back to
Australia and take up duties as a founding member and manager with MY DISCO in 2003. The
band has worked consistently since then, having recorded 6 full length albums, several EPs,
countless domestic tours and internationally the band have played in over 40 countries to date.
In 2014, Andrews received funding through Australia Council For the Arts for a recording and
research project set predominantly in Amman, Jordan.
During this time, he worked mostly with local musicians and religious singers, compiling amass
of field recordings and samples for personal and spiritual use. He also traveled and lived in
Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, furthering his passion for the music of Islam and travel in
the Levant region.
In 2014 and 2015, Andrews decided to take up residence in Jakarta, Indonesia. Feeing an
affiliation with both Southeast Asia and Islamic studies since early childhood, the move was an
important step in learning more about the culture, religion and music of the region.
Currently he works as a record label manager for Endless Recordings, as well as an external
grant assessor panel member for The City of Melbourne for the 2020-2024 period, focusing on
music and the arts, and focuses on freelance writing, fiction writing and several solo music
projects.
These projects include Blarke Bayer, ASSAD, KILAT, Sow Discord and Agents of Abhorrence.
He lives in Melbourne and continues to tour and record with MY DISCO and KILAT.
